Soap By Kaelyn

13-year-old Kaelyn is learning the art of cold-processed soapmaking from her Granny, the master soap maker at Faerhaven. These beautiful soaps are her first creations.

Under Granny's watchful eye, Kaelyn carefully measures all the ingredients, and is assisted with the mixing and pouring of the extremely hot lye/water mixture. She has learned that soap is made by mixing an acid (oils) with a base (lye/water mixture) and that with the chemical reaction that occurs from those two ingredients, it becomes a salt (soap).

After stirring and bringing the mixture to a light trace, she pours the liquid into the molds. The next day she pops them out of the molds and puts them on the shelf to cure for 4-6 weeks.

Kaelyn is excited to start her own soap company. For now, her soaps will remain under the Faerhaven logo and be named ‘Soaps by Kaelyn.' One day, she may become the President and owner of Faerhaven Soaps and Personal Care Products.
